HERoes in Deed Community Grant Winners

We are pleased to announce our Spring 2019 Grant selectees and excited to partner with these two organizations on their projects.

United Way of the Dutchess-Orange Region brings together people and resources to fight for the health, education and financial stability of every person in our community.  For individuals and organizations that want to help improve the health of their community – United Way is the platform that enables individuals, groups and companies to make a difference – individually and collectively – in whatever way they wish to contribute their time, talent and treasure.  Through their MISSION UNITED™ program, United Way provides local veterans with not only access to housing and legal services, but also access to job training and advancement. We are proud to help United Way of the Dutchess-Orange Region with their Military Night Out.  You can check out more about this organization on their website at https://www.uwdor.org/.

BOXES FOR SOLDIERS OF THE HUDSON VALLEY began in 2012 as a grassroots holiday care package drive, sending 83 boxes overseas in their first year.  Boxes for Soldiers was officially founded in 2017, and the drive was expanded to Orange County towns.  In that year a total of 227 care packages were sent to deployed Soldiers to let them know they are supported and remembered.  The boxes are carefully packed with donated items and letters from supporters at home. Boxes for Soldiers hopes to send more than 300 packages this year, and HERoes in Deed is honored to be part of this effort to support our troops.  If you would like more information or are interested in volunteering for this year’s packing event, you can learn more on the group’s Facebook page at https://www.facebook.com/boxesofhudsonvalley/.
